Take your career into top gear

SpinDrive improves the energy efficiency of industrial processes by providing active magnetic bearings to equipment manufacturers in a simple and affordable way. We are a Finnish cleantech start-up company with a multinational team and high expectations towards fast international growth.

Our solution levitates the rotational part of the electrical machine completely eliminating friction. It improves process energy efficiency, reduces maintenance costs and provides completely oil-free system reducing customer equipment lifecycle costs by 35%. SpinDrive customers are global leading manufacturers of turbomachinery and other rotating equipment. We are commercializing years of research and looking for a person not just to close a position but to join the team and enhance our product development.

We are looking for a Expert Control Engineer to accelerate SpinDrive's impact on energy efficiency and the green shift!

We are looking for a team member – a SpinDriver – to actively work on design, developing, and  implementing advanced control systems to optimize mechanical performance and mitigate vibration  and resonance issues in active magnetic bearing systems. The successful candidate should be an  experienced and highly skilled Control Engineer specializing in mechanical systems and resonance  damping. This role requires an in-depth understanding of control theory, mechanical dynamics, and  damping techniques to maintain system stability, and ensure robust operation.

You can work in Lappeenranta or Helsinki, Finland or remote. You’ll report to the service manager.

The candidate will actively work with our service team on deploying and fine-tuning new installations.  In cooperation with R&D team the new features and tools will be developed to streamline  commissioning activities and improve service actions.

Your main tasks will be:
  • Design, develop, and optimize control systems for active magnetic bearings
  • Develop control algorithms and implement them using programming languages such as MATLAB, Simulink or other relevant software
  • Perform system tests, diagnostics, and iterative improvements based on data analysis to refine control performance
  • Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and software engineers) to integrate control systems into new and existing equipment
  • Document control strategies, testing procedures, and system changes while providing training and support to engineering and maintenance teams
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fields such as robotics and aerospace.
